Diggin' Downtown!

Ben Comer, Downtown Danville Partnership
Special thanks this week to Dave Simmon for bailing out the president for being the speaker host.  Dave gave his IOU (LOL) and told us about his family and the insurance business that he is co owner of.

Dave introduced Ben Comer, President of the Downtown Danville Partnership.  Ben gave us a overview of how the partnership came into existence, how it is funded, and what some of the things that the partnership does.  Some of the things that you might be familiar with are the First Friday Cruise-ins and the Concerts on the Square.  These are activities are designed to bring people to the Town of Danville and create a quality of life that will attract people and business to Danville.  You can "like" the Downtown Danville Partnership on Facebook.  From their Facebook page you can keep up to date on Concerts and other Downtown events.

Last week, we had a few fellow Rotarians travel overseas to participate in bringing goodwill to local golf courses in Scotland.  While there, they visited a local Rotary Club.  Here is an excerpt from an e-mail about their visit.... and it was nice, I guess they were on their best behavior.

Terry, Doug, Bob - It was good to meet you all, albeit briefly, at our Club meeting.  Hope the rest of your golfing tour went well, though I seem to remember Wednesday's weather was pretty diabolical....!   Attached photo as promised - sorry I'm no David Bailey....

Do look in again if you make a return trip to St Andrews; perhaps we could even manage a wee golf challenge match ?!
Meanwhile our very best wishes to you all,
Robin Alexander

I am sure that Terry and Doug battled it out for the rights to the longest putt while on their trip.  WE will NEVER know the truth, but the stories will continue to grow.  You can get a good dose of Terry and Doug's humor on Aug. 3rd for their trek to Conner Prairie to see Don McLean's American Pie.  You can contact Terry directly for space available on the bus.  Total price is $63, that gets you into the show, a box dinner, and almost front row seats to the show.
Looks like Terry is telling a whooper of a tale...
Announcements:

Board Meeting on Aug. 2nd at Courthouse Grounds at 7:30am

District Governor will be visiting our club on Sept. 27th.
