Better Know A Rotarian!

Happy New Year! In the past few weeks we celebrated Independance Day as well as our latest changing of the guard from one Rotary President to another. It only makes sense then that this edition of Better Know a Rotarian is devoted to... Marcia Lynch of course!

I sat down with Marcia in this election year while she was on the campaign trail kissing babies and shaking hands. We met at the Bread Basket, presumably because it's the best place for a morning photo op and her "people" had undoubtedly tipped off the Republican & Flyer that she would be there. You see, Marcia is an extremely controversial person, as most career politicians are. I personally can't think of a more polarizing political candidate in 2016 than Marcia Lynch (although technically she's not a candidate since she's not up for re-election this year). 

I of course learned all about this controversial figure from the most reliable of sources, Danville Chatter. You see, facebook isn't just for Pado posting about robots, or Susan Hill posting about casserole dishes. Facebook should primarily be used for reposting unverified political information and memes from blogs that, while possibly not true, support your overall position. Facebook is where I found out most of what I know about Marcia's political sneakiness. I heard she even executed a complicated coup of local government by being on the Town Council AND being the Chamber Director. I'm not sure where her email server is, but I will find out. Here is some more of the real dirt I picked up at breakfast:

• Marcia lives for her grandkids
• Marcia lives for Danville
• Marcia makes tough decisions we elected her to make that sometimes not everyone likes
• She was hired to be the Chamber Director, and voted to sit on the town council, and it's really not more complicated than that. 
• Did I mention she lives for her grandkids?
• She really loves the town and is trying to improve it. 
• The grandma thing cannot be overstated.

After our breakfast I realized two things: 1.) Marcia Lynch, whether you vote for her or not, is NOT a politician. She makes the decisions she feels is best for our town regardless of what it means for her politically. 2.) If your facebook post begins with something regarding "what the founding fathers intended", I will skip over your post. The founding fathers did not live in a world with Pokemon Go. 

Rotisserie Rotarians Update (this has nothing to do with chicken)

No time to panic like the present.

So I just looked at the Rotary standings for the first time this season and I couldn't help but get a sense of deja vu. I went back and looked at last year's standings after two weeks. Last year both VanDelay & The Hyphen were sitting at 2-0, and I can remember them glowing with Happy Dollar Delight on Thursdays. Meanwhile, Doug Catt's Dog Cattchers were wallowing down in last place with the dregs (like Tim Wright). 

Side note on Tim Wright: When you combine all the football teams records that Tim Wright has a hand in right now (Warriors, West Bridge Powder Puff, Fantasy League, Paper Football) you come up with 0 vs. a very large number. Please list your next home with Tim Wright. He needs a win. 

Anyways, this year boy have things changed. VanDelay & The Hyphen are sitting at 2-0, while Catt & Wright are mired in last place. I'd like to point out that even though it's the same start as last season I'm completely calm with this. Because LAST year neither VanDelay nor The Hyphen made the playoffs, and the Dog Cattchers did. Tim however... yeah he should panic.

Better Know a Rotarian: The Invisible Man

The Invisible Man

Tom Pado has a problem. He wants to be invisible. The problem is if you take one look at him, or have one conversation with him, or talk to anyone about him you'll have the same reaction to that sentence; "REALLY???"

Tom has lived life to the fullest, not just experiencing America but all over the world. He spent a large part of his professional life in Australia, I'd imagine playing with the dingos and Crocodile Dundee. He's been on news programs, spoke on talk shows, and rubbed elbows with Defense Secretaries & Generals. He's a successful inventor and entrepreneur. His career resume speaks for itself. So when Tom retired, he decided to get away from the spotlight and become a wallflower. 

Yes I know, you're all laughing now. Danville, Indiana is not where someone goes to be invisible. A brief list of how Tom is working to accomplish his goal of invisibility: 

1. New to Danville- In his defense he can't help this fact. New to Danville tends to stick out. Trust me, as an Avon grad I'm still an "outsider" to most even after 12 years.
2. Captain Fireplug- Has a charity to help the families of injured and downed firefighters. Doing good work in a small town gets attention (as it should, regardless of size of town). 
3. Married into a "Danville" family. Cindy may not be from Danville, but her kids are. I don't know if Trump would refer to them as "anchor babies" because of this... actually I do know.
4. Joined Rotary- Maybe a little pat on the back here, but Rotary is an organization that DOES things. We're visible in the community. 
5. Walks his dog regularly- I mean sure he may walk his dog by driving his signature jeep around town, but my point is the same. He's seen out and about town quite often. A hermit Tom is not!
6. Stories! Stories! Stories! Small towns are full of them, and anyone that can tell a good one always has a prominent seat at the table. Incidentally that's why Charlie gets to sit up front at meetings. 

Tom claims to want to be just another guy, but he will always fail at that goal. As is the case with many of our rotarians, retiring from his career didn't mean he was done being noticed or needed. A fact that all of us fellow Rotarians are grateful for. 

Better Know a Rotarian - A Tale of Two Danville's

Best read while listening to Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen because #TBT and his album Born to Run turns 40 this summer. Kevin Hill is 40(ish).

Kevin and I recently had lunch at Los Patios. He had a burrito, I had a Speedy Gonzalez (the Mexican restaurant lunch staple).

Kevin Hill grew up in Danville. Royal Donut, Schroeder's (formerly Burger Chef), and a love of everything Dick Van Dyke are part of his heritage.... wait, that's not Danville! Why actually it is. Kevin is from Danville, Illinois. He's traded in his past Danville for the Royal Theater, Burger King (where nobody eats), and a love of everything Andy Griffith. 

Kevin has been a huge part of Rotary's growth in the past year as the Membership Director. I looked this up (no I didn't) and we've added a staggering 40 members (give or take a few dozen) in the past 6 months. DO NOT FACT CHECK THAT STATISTIC. As if that's not impressive enough of a Rotary resume he's also the Assistant to the Vice President Elect. I believe that means if the President & Vice President & Speaker of the House & President pro tempore of the Senate & Secretary of State are all incapacitated, he becomes President. Wow is right.

His most prized accomplishment since joing Rotary however is his Danville Rotary Fantasy Football trophy he won last season. Ever since he won he's been wearing a crown on his head, which I found odd. When I asked if winning has changed him he took a big sip out of the golden chalice he now carries around and drinks from exclusively and declared "Nay, winning the figure league hath not chang'd me any. i am the same sirrah from anoth'r danville that i always was. i still associate with the less'r people from timeth to timeth." I believe the crown came from Burger King. 

BETTER KNOW A ROTARIAN

Best read while listening to "What Do You Like" by Graham Parker, because why not. 

Sat down with "Attorney For The Innocent" Terry Kessinger at Frank's Place for a brief conversation to better know a Rotarian. Terry had antipasto (which sounds like it should be illegal in a pasta place correct?) while I had the grilled chicken and a salad with no olives because they are from the devil. 

To say Terry is a complicated fellow would be inaccurate... wait. To say Terry is a complicated fellow would be a fool-hearty lie. Nobody would believe it. He's a man of a few passions that aren't hard to spot. I'll skip the golf part because I'm horrible at it and I suspect those who aren't don't work hard enough at other aspects of their lives so it's more of a fault of theirs and less an accomplishment. No need to mention his predilection for those cheaters the Cardinals, his Hoosier backing cancels that out and then some. There are two things that make Terry an important Rotarian to know: Music & Brews.

If you need a music history lesson you could do a lot worse, his breakdown of the ironic differences between Beatles & Stones fans vs. the two bands upbringing is pretty fascinating, but that's not what makes Terry's love of music important to Rotary. The symphony on the Prairie trips, the Kessinger's constant appearances at other Rotarian's musical events (Royal Theater concerts, volunteering at the Rotarian booth for Concerts on the Square) etc.. are all things that wouldn't be the same if you didn't see Terry and his better half there. Yes it's great that he supports and in some cases even helps organize these events. But his enthusiasm for music shines through and makes the evening more enjoyable for all involved. 

Which is when we come to the brew. Thankfully there is brew at all these events or Terry probably wouldn't be there long. Not only that, but neither would we more than likely. Listening to these music lovers (myself included) can be exhausting and lead one to the bottle quick. I mean, have you heard Terry's dissertation on the differences between Beatles & Stones fans vs. the two bands upbringing? Wow, hope you have a few hours. 

Honestly this is a Rotarian you should know better, or at least know better than to offer him a Coors Light, because he's more of a craft brew guy. Yeah, he's a little pretentious just like most Cards fans. Dang it I couldn't help it!

Call Off The Dogs!!!

The amount of subtle trash talk that I have been subjected to these first two weeks is appalling. It's hard to believe that Denise Hole(y)-Moley would make outlandish statements rubbing in her victory over me such as "Did I win?", and "Can you show me how to set a lineup?" This is a wolf in hole's clothing with her snarky digs. I know she practically invented the game of fantasy football. I know for a fact (no I don't) that she sold Jim Sorgi's house and he gave her inside information on who to draft (no he didn't). 

I figured in week two that I would get the respect I deserve as Crommissioner from a judge. Boy was I wrong. (The Honorable) Stephenie Lemay-RUDEken sent some extremely insensitive remarks my way earlier today. The text of which was something about a District Governor, new members, and a bake sale. Seems harmless until you read between the lines and realize she's really saying "Not only can you not govern your team, you need new players, and your team is toast!"

It's time to not only right the ship but take a stand against the barrage of barbs being sent my way. To help call off the dogs I will be changing my name from The Four Way Best to Doug Catt's Dog Cattchers. 

For those in the league wanting an update on their team... I have no idea how your team is doing.

Minutes Minutiae

Yesterday was an exciting day for me, as it was my first accepted opportunity to watch the greatest minds of rotary mapping out a plan for our Rotary futures.

I'm not sure what I expected from this meeting... but I do know what I was hoping for. Have you ever seen British Parliament? Yeah that's what I was hoping for. Picture Tracie Schwarzenneger-Shearer pleading her case that the Mayberry stop serving so many carbs with their meals. Brad Baby-Bjorn firing back that because of Tracie he's wasting so much dessert now that people are going halfsies on his offerings (because not having dessert at all is NOT an option). Eric Oliver-Cline keeps screaming about his intentions to adopt the fledgling Amo Rotary Chapter, while Rex Champion-Dugan sleeps (sockless of course) in the back.  The Honorable Stephenie LeMay-Luken (the judge) is contstantly banging her gavel for order and The Honorable David Judge-Coleman (the judge) puts his head in his hands wondering where it all went wrong. 

In reality what I saw was a bunch of motions to accept things, motions to move on from things, plenty of seconds to the motions, a few items calmly ironed out. Schwarzenneger-Shearer wasn't upset about anything, LeMay-Luken didn't even bring her gavel. Rex was however asleep in the back. It was all very practical, efficient and calm. My visions of a reality television series surrounding our Rotary Club took a hit yesterday for sure. I'm guessing Avon's Board Meetings are far more like the Wild West. They don't even have a town square!

Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Today we celebrate the many musical stylings that the Danville Rotary is connected with. It seems like every time you turn around there's a rotarian talking about what concert he or she is going to or has just attended. Our meetings have a musical flavor even when it's not intentional. This week's presentation was brought to you by Hendricks Regional Health and was about being active. It led me to do the insane action of signing up for a ballroom dancing class at the Hospital (where I will undoutdedly find myself staying)... so would anyone like to take my wife to a ballroom dancing class?

Honestly though our rotarians are very passionate about their music. We go to the Royal Theater concerts, Symphony on the Prairie, the County Fair concerts, etc... and we're so diverse in our interests. Take for instance the difference in tastes from two of our own. Terry TeaKay-Kessinger is big on the Beatles music being played at Conner Prairie. The lyrics of one of their most famous songs: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”. Contrast that with Stephenie LeMay-Luken's favorite "musician" Brett Michaels: "Unskinny bop, just blows me away. Unskinny bop bop, all night and day. Unskinny bop bop bop bop, she just loves to play. Unskinny bop nothin' more to say". If only that were true.

I'm not here to judge which is better, but I will give you pause for our future. The lyrics to my daughter's current favorite song are "Fire up your loud, another round of shots..... TURN DOWN FOR WHAT. TURN DOWN FOR WHAT. TURN DOWN FOR WHAT. TURN DOWN FOR WHAT." Those are literally the only words to the song. 

Hopefully the band tonight at Summer Sounds on the Square will not cover that song. Stop by the rotary booth and buy some pizza & pepperoni breadsticks. If you can find Tracie TraiNer-Shearer she will buy the first round of shots. TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?

The King is Dead. Long Live the Queen!

Yes another Rotary Year has passed, and with it the reign of Bockstahler. Beginning with the formation of 237 different committees to ease the burden of Presidency, it was certainly a year of changes and accomplishment. Due in part to so many people lending a hand the Danville Rotary was able to go on trips together, have drinks at precisely 5:31 in the afternoon, award scholarships, create a secondary corps of volunteers, and single-handedly prevent a polio outbreak in Hendricks County. 

While those are all significant accomplishments, the Bockstahler era's lasting impression will undoubtedly be this.

Sad as it may be to see the fastest talking President in recent memory go (hopefully not literally if home listings are to be believed), a new era is rising. The year of the hyphen is upon us. No official word yet on the rumors about LeMay-Luken demanding all rotarians hyphenate their names for at least this year just to see how things go. A little background on our new Prez that I'm sure you were not aware of. Did you know she's a judge? Did you know she's excited about Brett Michaels coming to town? That's pretty much all the background that's necessary. Looking forward to a great year, and let's make sure we keep the streak alive and keep polio out of Hendricks County again this year!

Fantasy Football Update

Fantasy Football Rotary Style heads into the final regular season matchup with serious playoff implications.

Health Allen has locked up the #1 seed and it is rumored he is going to rest his starters.  Interesting side note, league commissioners are considering fining Heath for naming his team after a player he didn't keep on the roster.

The current #2 and #3 seeds, Seth Cromer and Amy Elliot respectively, have a head to head matchup this week.  Both clubs are 9-4 with Seth holding the tiebreaker, with an insurmountable lead in points.  While it is possible for this to be nothing more than a game to determine home field advantage in the playoffs, it could be possible that the loser is booted from the playoffs.

Kevin currently holds the last spot, but Marcia and Greg are poised to take playoff spots if others falter.  The full scenarios for each of these six teams are:

The Roving Rotarian

I have been a Rotarian only since June 27th.  I live in Danville, but work at an office in Crawfordsville.  I also travel quite a bit in central Indiana during the day.  That means I have missed my fair share of Rotary meetings.  I have tried to make them up through our 531 club, board meetings, and other opportunities.

With my office in Crawfordsville, and a client on the board of the Crawfordsville Rotary Club, I have attended their meeting a couple times.  At first I thought that would be the extent of my visits to other clubs.

Then I received an invitation to a special meeting of the Attica Williamsport Rotary Club.   It was being held at the Beef House with Gary Varvel speaking.  How could I say no?  I had such a good time meeting even more Rotarians, that I decided this may be my calling in Rotary.

Our youth exchange program says that if every child spent a year abroad, there would be no more wars.  Well, maybe visiting other Rotary Clubs can help us further our understanding of other communities and gain knowledge and understanding that we can share in our own community.

Then today I attended the Downtown Danville Rotary Club.  For clarification, that is one of two Rotary clubs in Danville, ILLINOIS.  I happen to have grown up in Danville, IL but now live in Danville, IN.  I had an appointment in west central Indiana this morning, so it tied in well to visit today.

I plan to continue my efforts to visit a Rotary Club whenever possible during my travels.  I would encourage you to try it as well.  You don't have to visit as often as I do, but expand your horizons once in a while.

Gas supply at highest levels in 21 years!

The good news is prices at the pump will be coming down so it will be less expensive to drive to Rotary meetings each week; and we have some great meetings in store over the next few weeks.

We will start with this weeks club assembly, where each committee chair will be bringing their committee together to discuss ideas, goals and strategy for this Rotary year. If you have not selected the committee you would like to serve on this year, this is the perfect time to do so. If you are unable to attend this weeks meeting please contact the committee chair for the committee you would like to participate in so they can get you up to date with what they have going on. Finally, many thanks go out to Rotarian Greg VanLaere for leading our club this past year. He has brought us to the forefront of technology by teaching us how to communicate more effectively each week and by getting our club involved in the District with his volunteer work at that level throughout the year. Now it appears he has taken a page out of the Dugan book and left to go sailing this week so he can relax before he has to fly all the way to Hawaii on Saturday for a vacation.

Year End Celebration

What a whirlwind of activity last Thursday.  It was a great day to be a Rotarian.   We started things off at noon, on the square, for the clock dedication.  Over 25 Rotarians were present and we had about another 25 guests.  Straight up noon the clock started to chime and Greg prepared to dedicate the click and thank the  people who made it possible. Ron, Henry and Betty Bartly took photos.  Recognition was given to the contractors, town employees and county employees helped erect the clock.  Things were wrapped up at the square in short order and preparation for the year end party was soon to commence.  

At 4pm Jenny, Flory and Suzanne started to orchestrate other Rotarians in setting up for the year end party.   Blowup palm trees needed air, tables needed set up, and beer that needed chilled.  Jenny,  Flory and Suzanne make it all look easy. Rotarians and spouses started to gather a little before 6pm bring side dishes and desserts to share. The Blanton House is an ideal backdrop for our party.  Members mingled on the back patio while Chas played music.  Shared Blessings cooked our pork steaks for us and were given $1000 for their Food Pantry along with donated items from the Rotarians.   Amy Elliott kicked things off at 7:45.  Neal inducted two new members and received the Lois J Arnold award for his work this year on the Membership Committee.   Ron and the new board were installed for the 2013-2014 year and Greg was thanked to his service to the club.  Ron recognized his new committee chairs and the meeting was adjourned back to the patio to clean up the left over beer and wine.

It was a good time for all until someone broke the bottle opener. But, like a good neighbor, Mike P. was there with his shoe.  I wish I had a picture of him in action. Folks, that is just something you will have to see for yourselves.

A President Signs Off

This is the last newsletter that I will be pulling double duty on, as Club President.  Next week I will slip into the comfortable roll of Past President and continue as one of the many Rotarians that plug along and do the work that needs done to have a successful rotary club.  As this week ends our Rotary year, it is filled with activity.   We have the the clock dedication this Thursday at noon. We have our year end party Thursday evening. There are committee meetings with the new President and this blog to write.

Clock Dedication.  We will be meeting at the clock at noon to dedicate the clock and recognize those who made this project happen.  The media will be attending.  Please make it a point to join us for this event.

Year End Party.  
There is a meat rubbing party Wednesday night at Ron's house. If you would like to join us,  be at Ron's house at 7pm.  Helping Hands food pantry will be cooking the steaks for us. Please bring a case of food to donate at the door. They are very low right now and there are many in our community in need. As we celebrate the end of a great year, we will be doing so in Hawaiian fashion.  Make sure you are styling with your Hawaiian gear. Drinks start to flow at 6pm, dinner at 7pm followed by recognition and induction of the new board and president.  This is one of the best meetings if the year and you don't want to miss out.  

I want to thank you for making this year a great year for me.   It is a great pleasure to lead the best club in Rotary.  I am very proud of each of you for your dedication to service and to our community. Thank you! 

Least we Forget....

The men and women who put themselves in harms way are our everyday hero's.  We think about sending care packages during times of rife and the media is there when our soldiers come home.  However, there is a story after the story.  Laurie Turpin was introduced by Steve Steinway.  Her organization helps Vets following their active service.  8.9 million Vets are receiving benefits.  1000 of those Vets live in Hendricks County and there is over 40 million dollars in benefits coming into the count from those Vets.  Laurie helps fill out the paperwork for VA claims and pensions.  There are also other benefits like the VA hospital and the Old Soldiers Home in Lafayette.

Welcome to Kevin Hill as our newest member and Kevin Spears will complete his two weeks by the night of our Year End Party.  Happy to have them join us.

The concert on the square was this weekend.  I look forward to hearing more about how things went.

We gave $10,000 to Sycamore Services this week.  The money was raised from our annual golf outing.  It was a great honor to be able to present the check to Pat Cockrum.

Take me out to the ball game...

A very enthusiastic Danny O'Malia was our speaker representing the Indianapolis Indiana's as one of their speakers bureau. He started by telling us the colorful history of one of the first pitchers "Only" Nolan, Telling us about Hank Aaron being one of the Indians "Clowns" other of the famous names that have gone though the Indians Roger Maris, 41-20 is the current and best record as of today.

185,000 people attended games last year, Bush stadium was named after Donnie Bush in 1967 after having two previous names. He gave away a couple sets of free tickets.

Jack of all Trades

There are time in work and life when you open you mouth and wish something else came out.  This week was one of those weeks for me.  Just in that moment that words escape your mouth and your foot then took their place.  I personally told Brad that I was sorry and now I am coming clean to all of our Club.  I am sorry to have mentioned those words on Thursday.  As Rotarians, we should and need to be conducting business with other Rotarians.  Those business dealings should be "beneficial to all concerned."  Brad has been giving service above self and Rotary is forever thankful.

This week was an adjustment to the schedule.  Needing to come up with a program on short notice, I leaned on a good friend and Coach, Jack Klemeyer.  Jack is the founder of GYB Coaching and Chamber University.  GYB stands for Grow Your Business.  Jack has been working lately with the Hendricks County Economic Development.  Together they have developed Excel.  Excel is for small businesses who need someone to talk to.  Companies can have growing pains.  Jack and his team work to create a network and a MasterMind to help those companies.  CEO Roundtables also help to build that support network.  Scholarships are available through the Chamber of Commerce in all towns in the county.

As I mentioned in the last meeting, we will be having our celebratory lunch for the winners of the golf outing fundraising competition on Thursday 6/6. The winners will be dining on prime rib. Winners – please bring your appetites.

Just In Time...

Three Rotarians walk into a bar... (I know hard to believe). Rotarians Cromer, Catt, VanLaere and former Rotarian Vornholt walk into a bar... After listening for ten minutes on why Doug Catt is a better golfer than Kessinger my mind drifted.  I realize that I had not donw the blog for the week.  

This last week,  Jennifer McPeak was the program chair.  Her guest was Josh Laycock from Brownsburg.  His family runs a print shop and marketing company.   Josh had spent a number of years working for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Josh gave us a history of the Speedway.   Laycock said that it was his family tradition to work at the Speedway.  He was the third generation to work there.  He specialized in marketing the Speedway.  It was a great precursor to the greatest race on earth over the long weekend.

Heath Allen is looking for volunteers to work a water station for the park2park relay on June 15th. Please see Heath or email him if you can help out.

The board meeting has been moved to june 13th and will be at the boardroom at NSSB.  

As for the three Rotarians that walked into the bar.... Catt is still professing his supremacy over all golfers, Cromer is still telling lame jokes (it's ok... he never reads my blogs anyway) and VanLaere is counting down the days until he is past president.

Alternative ending... Three Rotarians walk into a bar... VanLaere and Cromer duck and Catt takes one on the chin. Out.

Drive for Show, Putt for Dough

This week was our very own Harold Martin Open.  110 golfers descended on Twin Bridges Golf course.  The beer carts were full of liquid refreshments.  The beer cart drivers (The Hotties and the Cougars) were assigned to parts of the course.  There was a lot of smack talk among the drivers both of the beer carts and those with clubs in the hand.  As golfers arrived, everyone was signing in, purchasing last minute muliagain's, raffle tickets, and the 50/50.  After lunch, golfers hit the putting green and awaited the shotgun start.

Greg VanLaere and Pat Cockrum spoke briefly to the golfers about Rotary and Sycamore Services.  Buford followed up with some rules of the road for our attendees.  The weather held off and it was a great day on the links.  Golfers were laughing and carring on, while others were chasing down the beer cart.  Par or better was the suggestion.  Some say that golf is a wonderful walk spoiled by a little white ball.

I was happy to put together a team of the Hendricks County Rotary Club Presidents.  Greg Zusan, Max Hank, Scott Norris and myself.  It was great Rotary fellowship and quite the swan song as we wrap up our year of leading our clubs.  As the day wound down, golfers made their way back to the club house for the 50/50 and the raffle.  Heath Allen and Flory Phillips lead a active golf outing committee to a successful outing.  Thanks to all who worked to make this a success.

Tonight at the Danville Town Hall Meeting, the Town of Danville made the Mayberry Cafe a landmark, announced that May 20th will be forever a local holiday with parades and laughing children, and gave Brad and Christine the Keys to the Town... well maybe that is not how it all went down, but Brad and Christine were recognized for their assistance in attracting tourists to the Danville community.  Way to go Brad and Christina.

Interact Action

Probably one of the best meeting of the Rotary year was last week.  It is always a great meeting because it is fully ran by the Interactors.  Heather Siller, President of the Interactors, had the entire meeting planned out.  There were Interactors stationed at each entrance to escort each Rotarian to lunch.  After going through the lunch line and briefly reliving High School, we gathered in the gym. Heather and her executive team started the meeting.  They proceeded to share with us the service activities that they have done during the year. Notable activities include raising $150 for the Royal Theater and $100 for the Ginger Scott Fund. All of the Interactors introduced themselves and there were Sophomores attending also to see of they would like to become Interactors.  To finish up the meeting the Interactors came up with a very interactive game called "Find the Rotarian".  It involved both Interactors and Rotarians.  Those who completed the game received a cupcake from the Ginny Vornholt kitchen.

This week we will be at Twin Bridges Golf Course for the Harold Martin Open.  Now is the time for one last push to secure a hole sponsor or sign up a team to play.  Registration at 11 along with lunch and the shotgun start at noon.  See you on the course.
